Its great to have something really strange and bizarre in a rather scientific exhibition. The idea was to have a real salt crystal and a 3d representation of a virtual salt crystal on the screen. both are rotating in sync.

as soon as you press the target on the touch screen, the crystal on the screen explodes into thousands of cubical pieces. All the pieces will still have the cubical shape deternined by the sodium and chloride atoms.
